Sunday Afternoon Talks: HAMISH LUTRIS

Sunday Afternoon Talks: HAMISH LUTRIS In-Person

THE LIBRARY OPENS FOR SUNDAYS TODAY!

The Stratford Library will reopen for Sunday programming in October with its first “Sunday Afternoon Talks”, its series of informative and entertaining talks featuring prominent local guest speakers. On Sunday, October 6 at 2 pm the guest speaker will be Hamish Lutris who will discuss his new novel, “Earth Ascendant: Awakening”. The talk is free and open to the public.

"Awakening" is the first of four volumes of a fast-paced, character-driven fantasy/science-fiction series. Over the space of a day, the lives of almost everyone on Earth are snuffed out as if they had never been. With them disappears all that humans have achieved. Buildings, roads, technology, knowledge, skills- all gone, never to return. Yet there are survivors. Some manage to avoid the destruction almost at random, and now struggle to rebuild their lives in a harsh world, with dangers both old and new.   Autographed copies of the novel will be available for purchase following the program.

Hamish Lutris is an Associate Professor of History, Political Science, and Geography for Connecticut’s Community Colleges. He is a well-known speaker and educator throughout Connecticut and the region, having long experience in a number of natural and historical sites in Europe and the US. He presents on a number of topics, including science, culture, Native American history, the US Civil War, World Wars I and II, and the American West.

The “Sunday Afternoon Talks” series, hosted by Charles Lautier of Stratford, is held from 2-3:30 pm in the Stratford Library Lovell Room, 2203 Main Street in Stratford.
