250th Anniversary Of American Beer In-Person
To mark America's 250th Anniversary, illustrator, author and Advanced Cicerone Em Sauter will give an illustrated presentation discussing the role of beer and brewing in American history. Starting from the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock (because they were out of beer!) to the modern craft brewery movement and the beers we love today, beer has been woven through the fabric of American history.
Bio: Em Sauter is an award-winning cartoonist, international beer judge, Advanced Cicerone, public speaker and founder of Pints and Panels, a website she launched in 2010 to focus on visual drinks education. A Connecticut resident, Em has authored four books on beer and is currently working on a fifth book about whiskey.
An Advanced Cicerone is the third level of beer certification (out of four) in the Cicerone Certification Program, designed for industry professionals with expert-level knowledge of beer, brewing, service, and flavor evaluation. This designation requires passing a day-long, in-person exam covering brewing processes, in-depth beer styles, off-flavor identification, and food pairing.
